 Building and construction products group Hill & Smith Holdings PLC has promoted Derek Muir, the head of its fast growing infrastructure products group (IPG) to the main board.
Mr Muir has been appointed as an executive director as of 21st August 2006 and has played a key role in shaping the IPG division as a leading provider of solutions to the fast growing transport infrastructure and construction products market.
"The prospect of contributing at board level to the continuing growth of Hill & Smith is an exciting one for me," said Mr Muir.
"The appointment comes at a time when the group's focus on the sector is really paying off. We have built a complementary product range tailored to our market and our focus on solutions, product development and increasing efficiency will continue."
David Grove, Chief Executive of Hill & Smith Holdings PLC, said: "Derek's appointment will considerably strengthen our board, especially given his track record in positioning and building the IPG division.

The Group is due to announce its trading results for the six months ended 30 June on 12 September 2006.
